Winkler Fire Rescue has now officially moved into the new facilities at 290 Pembina Ave. The new station provides more space that was much needed for training and administration.

The Winkler Fire Department will again be doing its boot drive during the Harvest Festival Parade, collecting money for the Manitoba Fire Fighters Burn Fund.

Fire Chief Garry Klassen says funds collected for the Manitoba Fire Fighters Burn Fund go toward things like new equipment for the general hospitals burn unit in Winnipeg. It also funds things like public education material for the fire departments across the province.

Province wide the burn fund has been collecting between $200,000 and $300,000 a year.

Winkler Fire Rescue & Canadian Tire will be raising funds for Katherina in the Canadian Tire parking lot. Sat Oct 8, 11:00 - 1:00
Hotdog and Drink for only $2.00
Katherina is a 6 year old girl who is battling Leukemia, and requires frequent trips to Cancercare in Winnipeg for chemotherapy. All proceeds will go toward helping her family with expenses not covered by medicare.

Winkler Fire Rescue would like to thank every one who participated in the Muscular Distrophy 'Boot Drive' at the Harvest Festival parade. $3,455.01 was collected to help find a cure for muscular dystrophy.

Fire Fighter Testing
Winkler Fire Rescue has more certified Level II fire fighters
15 fire fighters passed the Fire Fighting Level II exam on June 14 in Morden. Practical exams were completed on May 13-15 at the Winkler Fire Rescue training site.

Fire Fighter Testing
120 Firefighters from accross Manitoba will be tested at the Winkler Fire Rescue training site May 13 - 15. The Winkler training site has become one of three test centers in Manitoba.

The annual Winkler Fire Rescue fundraising supper was held at the Winkler Bergthaler Church. The fundraiser was deemed another success with 823 people served.
